A local shop claims to be able to tune any "stock" motor with H/I/E to make more horsepower. They have done it on Mustangs, Camaros, etc. would this also work on the Tc? I have read on here that the piggyback systems will not work because the ECM is still in control but, will the tune work because it is re-mapping the ECM? Also is this safe within a reasonable extent? Thanks in advance for the advice.

I'm not familiar with them being able to do that with the factory ECU, but it can definitely be done with a piggyback. I/H/E are the basic boltons they recommend before they bother with a tune. You may see an extra 5-10 HP from a tune with those mods.
